Summer Camp/ Dedication
by Priscilla Gonzalez

2 Chronicles 7:1-b  “and the glory of the Lord filled the temple” 3-d “& worshiped & praised the Lord, saying: for He is good, for His mercy endures forever”

Restored Heritage Christian Assembly in Bohol held its first summer camp on May 23-26, 2006.  Highlights are Dedication of  the SHELTER & BUILDING; Marydel’s teaching on Personal Holiness in Times of Temptation authored by Dr. Bruce Wilkinson’s;  Pastor Jocelyn’s teaching on Why Study the Bible?  Susan Olano’s teaching on Parenting; Dr. Verna’s conducting a free Medical clinic; Baptisms; Renewal of Vows; a Native Tent-Making contest; a Volleyball tournament; a Biblical Drama competition and Scripture shared by us during the Praise & Worship service.

The first night of camp, the lights went out.  But that didn’t put a damper on the service as everyone continued to worship the Lord (on emergency lighting).  Susan Olano spoke on family life and the importance of the proper scriptural order in the household. After  the service, we prayed for all the families and as the lights came on again, we continued to Praise the Lord for what he did that evening.

On Thursday PM, a medical outreach was conducted at the church as medical missionary, Dr. Verna, along with the RH staff provided a free medical clinic to 60 people from the area.  Each person was given an appropriate medical evaluation including blood pressure, urine, glucose and pregnancy testing, as needed, along with the distribution of medications.  Clients also received prayer and counseling.

Thursday night’s service brought a rainstorm.  Since the church’s roof is not yet completed, the service took on a change of events.  As the baptistery filled with water, Marydel realized it would be a great time to perform the baptism service.  A total of 19 men were baptized ranging from teenagers to men in their fifties.

On Friday morning, the Dedication of the buildings took place as Pastor Jocelyn dedicated them to the Lord and spoke about what it meant to dedicate something to the Lord. The dedication service also included a special dance by the children at the orphanage and another by the teenagers.  After the dedication service, a feast was served to the many friends, guests and dignities (including a representative from the Mayor’s office) that were present to celebrate the dedication.  That evening we had a renewal of vows service.  Fifteen couples renewed their vows and were encouraged to continue to show and express their love to each other.

So many more exciting events happened that I couldn’t share.  You’ll just have to go attend next year and see the impact the Restored Heritage is making in the lives of people in Bohol.
